Monthly Compline Service Feb. 5th
The first Sunday of each month, 7:00 PM After several years’ hiatus, we begin
the new year with a new season of monthly Compline services, this time in conjunction
with Christ Church Anglican. It won’t be a replica of the previous season of Hope Chapel Compline
services; it will take the shape we need for this day. What is certain is that it will be a short
service (45 minutes), and include simple songs, candlelight, scripture, prayer,
and silence, through which we may practice resisting the world’s clamor and
clawing at our hearts.
The final prayer service of the day, the name “Compline,” is
derived from the Latin for “completion.” Come join with brothers and sisters
through church history who have marked the end of today and prepared their
hearts to enter into God’s work anew with the quieting service of Compline. |
