Missions at Hope Chapel: Our Ministry Philosophy
We firmly believe that God deeply desires His Church to partner with Him in finishing the task of world evangelization. God is a missionary God, and He invites us to join with Him in sharing the Gospel around the world. God longs for the day when there will be those from every tribe, tongue and nation worshiping before the throne in their own unique way. The completion of world evangelization is what drives missions at Hope Chapel.
We believe that life-giving, reproducing churches, are God’s change agents in the world, and the means through which world evangelization will be completed. In light of this, our missions philosophy is simple: partner with like-minded churches and organizations to plant reproducing churches among the least evangelized peoples of the world.
Our objective is not merely to organize a church on foreign soil, but to initiate a Christ-ward movement that will propagate the gospel throughout the entire culture as a whole - and eventually begin to impact other cultures as well.
There are several values that help shape our strategy for missions at Hope Chapel:
We value a focused approach to cross-cultural ministry. We choose to focus our efforts on a limited number of people groups. Currently we are focusing on one of the least evangelized people groups in the world. This kind of focused approach enhances our ability to make ministry decisions and maximize effectiveness.
In view of this, we will focus our resources to:
- Clearly articulate our vision for cross-cultural ministry, helping the entire church to understand and embrace what we are planning to do and why.
- Plant reproducing churches among the people group God has called us to.
- Pray prayers that are relevant to reaching the people group among whom we are working. Focus allows our prayers to be well-informed and strategic.
- Minister cross-culturally in ways that will accomplish the maximum effect in terms of reaching people for Christ.
- Care well for and fully support those we send.
Team ministry is our primary tactic.
We believe that the work of the church is done most effectively in an environment of mutual cooperation and in smaller units of people where there is high goal orientation, and a willingness to work together sacrificially.
We place a high value on partnership with the rest of the Body of Christ.
We must constantly be exploring the partnership opportunities before us. We will work in partnership with others who have a similar vision, both indigenous believers and other Christians.
We value innovation and creativity.
There is no exhaustive manuscript of proven methods of church planting among unreached peoples. Therefore, we want to encourage creative thinking in regard to reaching the unreached for Christ. We are willing to try new methods that seem worth the risk in order to see people reached. In order for a climate of innovation to exist, we must have a tolerance for well-intended failures.
