Question:  What is the history of Hope Chapel? 

Answer:  This is a long, involved answer so we will begin now and add to it in the future:  (30 years is a long time to recapture.)  Here we go. 

Hope Chapel's beginnings involved a study of the book of Romans in the spring of 1977.  We were primarily a young group, mostly college aged, and Dan Davis and his wife, Joann, led the study.  At the time, Dan was an executive for a computer company.  The relationships and hunger for God which formed during that time kindled a desire for continuing after the class. 

In the fall of 1977, Hope Chapel began to meet as a church in a meeting room at Dobie Mall, next the University of Texas Campus. This started a 4 year journey of sojourning in rented facilities and back yards, the life of a church plant.
